The fugue is the most demanding contrapuntal structure: a subject enters alone, then voices
join one by one, each stating the subject while the others continue in counterpoint. This
study asks: what happens when the weaving unravels? Not the notes degrading (Study 1)
or the voices drifting apart (Study 2), but the relationships between voices
breaking down. Entries become misaligned, pitch relationships dissolve, voice independence

The dissolution studies are organized around a four-axis dissolution framework:
pitch (notes losing tonal center), rhythm (timing losing regularity), timbre (sound
losing texture), and space (stereo field losing coherence). Five composition voices
guide the erosion work: erosion (gradual degradation), drift (probabilistic separation),
wraith (memory/presence), accretion (growth as inverse dissolution), and

The translation series (Studies 10–13) extends the framework: instead of asking how
sound falls apart, it asks how the same idea dissolves when expressed in
