Synopsis

Marcus Calloway, a longshoreman organizer with a talent for bringing people together, discovers that San Francisco's Kindred society has its own union — and he's been drafted. Thrust into the city's undead politics after the 1906 earthquake reshaped both the physical and political landscape, Calloway must navigate covenants he doesn't understand, loyalties he didn't choose, and a city where the dead vote and the living pay the dues. The first and longest novel of the San Francisco Noir cycle.
